The Great Gatsby would have been proud. I ventured to St. John’s college in Annapolis, Maryland today for a few minutes and was amazed by the ’20s styles that were everywhere. What made it better was the copious amounts of food and alcohol everywhere, it really made a statement about that time and maybe more so about our time. Although, these people were drinking like the didn’t care about the recession, and back then, they didn’t know they were about to hit the Great Depression.
The croquet was really secondary. I hadn’t ever seen much fanfare about croquet but it seems like it was more of an excuse to hang out than anything else. It was Interesting to see all the styles and weirdly enough, there were a ton of people smoking which I didn’t expect but rather fits in with the whole ’20s feel of the event.
